The Camp Pinebrook Leader-In-Training program is the perfect choice for young teens looking for a summer experience that balances work and play. It is designed to teach our LITs leadership skills through community building and socialization. Through community service and work with our campers, teens create connections to peers as well as the Camp Pinebrook family. It is our hope that they will return each summer to lend their expertise, creativity, and passion, as we continue to grow our incredible camp.
Specially designed for teens and tweens entering 7th thru 9th grades, ON THE RISE (better known as The OTTERZ) brings together the best parts of being a camper and staff member. OTTERZ choose the area of Camp Pinebrook they would like to work in (a specialty activity or a camp group) and they are assigned to that area for two weeks, after which they may switch if they choose to.
Led by Associate Director Stan Friedmann, the OTTERZ meet each morning as a group to discuss different topics relating to working with children in the camp setting. Topics might include:
Once “in the field”, OTTERZ are supervised by their activity/group leader, and remain under the watchful eye of Stan and his team. OTTERZ eat lunch as a group and enjoy a free swim together in the afternoon, followed by another meeting with Stan to discuss the day’s events and experiences.
The Camp Pinebrook ON THE RISE program includes daily lunch, snacks, and towel service. We require AT LEAST two consecutive weeks of enrollment, and highly encourage OTTERZ to spend at least four weeks at camp to bond with each other and the community. COST: $150 per week.
