Five Core Values

One of the special things that distinguishes Camp Pinebrook are our five core values that are reinforced and emphasized in all we do.  We understand respect, community, encouragement, teamwork, and compassion to be fundamental cornerstones to creating a safe and meaningful camp experience where our children will not only have a blast, but they will also develop their social and emotional intelligences.

One of the ways in which we teach our campers these values is by creating a corresponding theme for each weekly Shabbat.  Last week’s community theme was explored through a number of activities. Campers had a ball dressing up their counselors in costumes representing different members of our own communities, from fire fighters to medical professionals to rabbis.

Additionally campers worked together to create colorful collages in beautiful artistic representations for community. Finally, our Camp Pinebrook community came together in our newly constructed amphitheater to welcome the Sabbath with songs and snacks along with the Temple Israel of New Rochelle clergy.

This week’s theme is “compassion” — check back tomorrow to see how our campers explored this value together in the Value Olympics!
